Venison Sloppy Joes- From Scratch!

No Manwich, no problem! These delicious sloppy joe’s are made with ingredients you already have in your kitchen.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes


  • 1 lb ground venison

  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced

  • 1 green bell pepper, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 can tomato sauce

  • 1.5 tbsp brown sugar, packed

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard (you can swap for yellow mustard)

  • 1 tbsp chili powder

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 4-6 buns

Cooking Instructions

  1. Warm oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add venison, onion, and bell pepper; breaking up the meat into crumbles.

  2. Cook for about 5 minutes until venison is cooked through and vegetables are tender. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Drain off grease.

  3. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Stir well to combine.

  4. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes until mixture has thickened.

  5. Remove from heat and serve on toasted buns
