A TWIST ON TRADITIONAL DOVE POPPERS

Updated: Feb 20, 2021

When dove season finally comes around, hunters from all over are ready to serve up dove poppers. Everyone's always asking me "Jenn, how do you do your poppers?" and honestly I got tired of having such a boring response! So here it is, my take on dove poppers, let's wrap this in a crescent roll and BOOM: my new favorite way to prepare dove. I like to call it...

Dove Popper in a Blanket

Ingredients: (yields 8 poppers)

- 8 pieces of Dove Breast Meat

- 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

- 4 Jalapeños

- 1 package Philadelphia Cream Cheese

- 1 lb Bacon

- Steak Seasoning

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400°F.

  1. Prepare the jalapeños. Cut in half longways and de-seed using the back of a spoon. Set aside.

  2. Season the dove with with steak seasoning. Sear in pan on medium-high heat until each side is golden brown. Approximately for 30-45 seconds per side. Set aside.

  3. Take the half of a jalapeño and fill with cream cheese. Place dove breast on top then wrap in bacon.

  4. Roll up the popper in a crescent roll. (No need to use a toothpick to hold together!)

  5. Once all of the poppers are assembled, place on a cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

  6. Enjoy!
